About

A Brief History of Angulo Custom Wood Turning

Carlos has been woodturning since 2012 and teaching since 2013. He is a woodturning instructor at The Curious Forge makerspace in Nevada City and also teaches classes at Woodcraft in Rancho Cordova, Urban Wood Rescue in Sacramento, and in his own professional shop.

A member of both the Gold Country Woodturners and the American Association of Woodturners, Carlos is dedicated to sharing foundational techniques and creative approaches that help students grow their artistic abilities. He has studied with renowned woodturners such as Kirk DeHeer, Jerry Hall, Bill Juhl, Giulio Marcolongo, and John Jordan, and spent a week immersed in woodturning at the John C. Campbell Folk School.

Carlos is passionate about the art of woodturning and committed to educating the public about this craft. He focuses on producing high-quality work designed to last a lifetime. Most of his wood comes from sustainable urban sources—tree trimmers, friends and family, and from the 40 acres he and his wife care for in the Sierra foothills.

Carlos offers a wide range of classes for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students, providing all tools and equipment. His creations can be found at Art Studio 360 in Placerville, California, off Highway 50.
